Q4 2023 Performance of Top Navigation Apps on Android in the UK

As the final quarter of 2023 came to a close, the Navigation and Maps category for Android users in the United Kingdom saw varying levels of engagement and download activity among its top applications. Sensor Tower's data offers a glimpse into the performance of these apps during this period.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced a fluctuating download trend, starting the quarter with approximately 19K downloads and peaking at 26K in mid-December. Weekly active users for Waze also saw a dip, dropping from 402K to 357K in early November, before recovering to approximately 385K by the end of December.

The myRAC app showed a notable spike in downloads, from around 5K at the beginning of the quarter to a significant jump to 37K in mid-November and December. Weekly active users followed a similar trajectory, with an impressive rise from 7K to approximately 42K in the same time frame.

Google Earth, a long-standing player in the category, maintained a steady download pattern, with numbers ranging from 10K to 14K throughout the quarter. The app's active users, however, experienced a slight decline, starting at 126K and ending the quarter at around 121K.

Finally, Citymapper presented a downward trend in both downloads and active users. Downloads decreased from 9K to 6K, while active users saw a decrease from 198K to approximately 152K over the quarter. However, the app did generate some revenue, with weekly figures mostly hovering around the 1K mark, save for a dip to 919 USD in mid-December before rising again to 1.2K USD at the quarter's end.
